At least 22 people were killed in an Israeli strike in Gaza, according to the Palestinians

According to The Jerusalem Post, the Israeli army confirmed the strike, saying that it was the Al-Falah school complex. From this location, Hamas planned attacks on both Israeli military units and the State of Israel, Israeli intelligence said. Despite the ongoing Israeli offensive, rockets are still occasionally fired at the Jewish state from the Gaza Strip.

“Prior to the attack, we took many steps to reduce the risk of civilian casualties, including the use of precision munitions, aerial reconnaissance and other intelligence,” the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement.

According to the quoted newspaper, Hamas has repeatedly faced accusations that it uses civilian infrastructure for its terrorist activities, both during the current war and before it.

The WAFA agency also reported that Israel launched yet another attack, namely on a university west of the city of Khan Yunis. Eight people were allegedly injured. The Israeli side has not yet confirmed or denied this claim.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that at least 31 people, including seven women and three children aged four, six and ten, were killed in Friday’s attack by Israel on the outskirts of Beirut. Another 68 people were injured.

Earlier reports spoke of twelve dead and 66 injured. The airstrike targeted the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah. Israel accuses both Hezbollah and Hamas of deliberately hiding behind civilians and using them as human shields.

Hezbollah confirmed on Saturday that two of its high-ranking officials were among the dead. Already on Friday, the Israeli army and Hezbollah said that during an attack on a neighborhood in Beirut, which is a stronghold of Hezbollah, the head of the Radván Ibrahim Akíl units, who was also wanted by the US because of his participation in the massacre of American soldiers in 1983, died. On Saturday, Hezbollah confirmed also the death of Ahmad Mahmoud Vahbi.

The Israeli strike targeted a building in a densely populated neighborhood and took place on Friday afternoon, when, according to the AP agency, many people were returning from work and children were going home from school. According to her, on Saturday morning, Hezbollah’s press department took journalists to the site of the attack, where rescue workers continued to search the ruins of the building.

The day after the massacre of Hamas in the south of Israel, on October 7 last year, Hezbollah began shelling the north of the Jewish state with rockets. Approximately one hundred thousand Israelis had to be evacuated from the areas near the border with Lebanon due to constant attacks by Shiite terrorists. One of the main goals of the military intervention against Hezbollah has been set by the Israeli cabinet to ensure their safe return home.
