Greece excludes the possibility of deploying peacekeeping troops in Ukraine

Greek government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis stated that Greece does not plan to send troops to Ukraine after the end of the war as part of security guarantees.

No, there is no such plan nor is it considered such a thing”He said in an interview for SKAI television.

Marinakis emphasized that such decisions are in the hands of each member state and that Greece’s support for Ukraine will continue, but not at the military level.

He recalled that Athens had initially helped with weapons, ammunition and BMP-1 vehicles, but later rejected the request for sending patriotic missile systems and the S-300.

Against the backdrop of diplomatic pressure, Washington has asked Greece to send the Russian S-300 system to Ukraine, while offering no guarantees for replacement with US systems.

On the other hand, Athens stands firmly to the position that borders are not forcibly changed, linking this attitude with her historical experience in Cyprus.

Greece respects international law and, under no circumstances, will not alleviate its attitude towards border violations”Marinakis said.
