Funeral Ceremony of Halid Beslic

A funeral ceremony was held for Halid Beslic, one of the most well-known singers of the Balkans.

The body of Beslic, who died in Sarajevo on October 7, was first brought to the National Theater building in the capital. His loved ones commemorated Beslic with tears.

At the ceremony in the National Theater building, his artist friends talked about Beslic and sang his songs.

Later, with the participation of thousands of people, Beslic’s body was placed in a hearse and brought to the historical Gazi Hüsrev Bey Mosque in the capital Sarajevo.

The funeral prayer was performed at noon, and a cover with verses from the Holy Quran was placed on Beslic’s coffin, and a fez, which has become the symbol of Bosnians, was placed on his head.

Many people could not hold back their tears at the funeral prayer attended by their relatives and loved ones.

After the prayer, Beslic’s body was placed in the hearse and taken to the Bare cemetery in the capital via Ferhadiye Street and Marshal Tito Street.

Along the way, thousands of loved ones watched the hearse pass with flowers in their hands to say goodbye to the artist.

Commemoration ceremonies were held for Beslic, who was buried in Bare, in many countries in the Balkans, with the participation of thousands of people.

Beslic passed away on October 7 in the Oncology Department of the Clinical Center in Sarajevo, where he was treated, and the news of his death was met with sadness by his listeners in all Balkan countries, especially in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Beslic, who was born in 1953 in Knezina, Bosnia and Herzegovina, fell ill during a concert in Banja Luka on August 15, 2025 and was hospitalized.

Beslic, who was a well-known singer in the Balkans during and after the former Yugoslavia, had a place in the hearts of millions of people with his emotional songs that are etched in memories.
