The political scene in Kosovo has marked an important development with the return of Vjosa Osmani to the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK). During the “Reunion Rally”, the former president declared that this reunion is a proof of unity and readiness to overcome divisions, with the sole aim of building a strong and democratic state.
In a speech addressed to sympathizers, Osmani stated that her return is not just a political move, but a return to the roots of the Rugovian ideal.
Returning to the common “trunk”.
Osmani described this moment as a union of souls and politics, using a metaphor for the internal structure of the party.
“Tonight before you, from the bottom of my soul, I want to say with all my heart: I am returning to my home. We are coming together today not as the same parts of different trunks, but as different parts of the same trunk,” she declared.
She added that during the last few months, in meetings with citizens from all over the country, she found a clear call for hope and accountability, factors that pushed her towards this decision.
Candidacy for President and Rugova’s legacy
During the gathering, Vjosa Osmani confirmed the acceptance of candidacy for a second term as President of the Republic, promising loyalty to the vision of Dr. Ibrahim Rugova.
“The return of Kosovo to the height of the vision of the “founding father”. Maintaining and strengthening the permanent friendship with the United States of America. A Kosovo where the country’s interest overcomes any political or ideological calculation,” she said.
Osmani did not spare the accusations against the party in power, accusing them of striving towards unnecessary elections with the aim of the political elimination of opponents. According to her, the current government is endangering the country’s vital alliances.
“On one side is the path of those who are never satisfied, the path of eliminating anyone who puts the Republic before party interest. And the other path is the path of Rugova’s trust, the path of strong alliances and international respect. I have chosen the latter,” she pointed out.
