Europe Day, Costa addresses the citizens of Kosovo: Your future is in the EU

On Europe Day, the president of the European Council, Antonio Costa, gave an important message to the citizens of Kosovo, calling them future members of the European Union and encouraging them to continue working towards the realization of this project.

Costa emphasized that the future of Kosovo is closely connected with the European Union and underlined the importance of continuous engagement to achieve this objective.

“Dear citizens of Kosovo, I am addressing you today as future members of the European Union. We believe that your future is in the European Union. A lot of work is being done to make this happen. You have the same destination as the rest of the region, the European Union. Keep working to make this happen. Together, we will build a common European future,” he said.

May 9 has historical significance for Europe. In 1950, the French foreign minister, Robert Schuman, proposed the creation of the European Coal and Steel Community, uniting steel and coal production between France, West Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. This community was the first European international institution and became the basis for the European Union we know today.
