The Balkan Business and Investment Forum, described as the “Davos of the Balkans”, hosted by the Governorship in Edirne, will become a tradition.
Edirne Governor Yunus Sezer evaluated the Balkan Business and Investment Forum, which was held yesterday under the auspices of the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Industry and Technology, with the support of the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) and the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TIM).
Sezer said that Edirne was experiencing one of its historical days.
Pointing out that they started from Edirne being the old capital and a city that appeals to the entire Balkans, Sezer said, “There was participation from all countries of the Balkans. Nearly 600 business people and industry representatives attended.” he said.
Emphasizing that Turkey has a great influence in the Balkans, Sezer stated that in the Balkans, beyond official relations, there are relations between business people and people where borders have disappeared.
Explaining that they aim to organize sincere relations with the Balkan Business and Investment Forum, Sezer said:
“Edirne is a city that deserves this very much, as it is the historical capital. They set out to ‘Let it be a mini Davos’, ‘Let it be the Davos of the Balkans’, and important results were achieved from here, and the Balkan Business and Investment Forum will continue its traditional activities like Davos.” We decided to make it happen. Our esteemed ministers instructed us in that direction. From now on, we will work in many areas, both subject-based and sector-based.
We are working to make Edirne a center of both Thrace, Turkey and the Balkans in the fields of industry, trade and agriculture. There is a great deal of interest in this regard. We can say that Edirne ‘found itself’.”
