Thrace Development Agency (TRAKYAKA) Secretary General Mahmut Şahin stated that Thrace is Turkey’s gateway to the Balkans and Europe in logistics, industry and other fields.
The Entrepreneurship Ecosystem and Investment Opportunities session was held at the Balkan Business and Investment Forum, which was held in a hotel, hosted by Edirne Governorship, under the auspices of the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Industry and Technology, and with the support of the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) and the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TIM).
In his presentation here, Şahin gave information about investment opportunities in Thrace.
Stating that Thrace is a bridge between Istanbul, Turkey’s metropolitan city, and the Balkan countries, Şahin said, “Thrace is Turkey’s gateway to the Balkans and Europe in logistics, industry and other fields. Thrace provides opportunities such as land, sea and air transportation to many areas.” It’s a place that provides.” he said.
Şahin mentioned that with the Halkalı-Kapıkule High Speed Train Project, it will start from Istanbul and reach Europe via Tekirdağ, Edirne and Bulgaria.
Stating that Edirne’s relationship with Istanbul and the Balkans is also important, Şahin said:
“Edirne has 4 Organized Industrial Zones and 5 border gates. We touched upon the Halkalı-Kapıkule High Speed Train Project. Istanbul Airport is one of the biggest advantages of Thrace. There is Çorlu Airport and this is an important place in terms of air transportation and logistics. Tekirdağ ports, Asyaport and Ceyport, are an important place in terms of port transportation and the distance to Edirne is around 140 kilometers. In this sense, Edirne has the necessary air, sea and train transportation. Food, tourism, textile, agriculture, animal husbandry and logistics services have an important place.”
In the session where experts from the Ministry of Industry and Technology made a presentation about investment incentives, Bulgarian Investment Agency Executive Director Mila Nenova also gave information about investment areas in her country.
Face-to-face meetings were also held within the scope of the program.
Business people from Turkey and the Balkans gave information about their fields of work and discussed new business opportunities and partnerships.
