This follows from a survey by Shoptet. An online marketplace is an internet e-shop where various sellers, not just its operator, offer their goods. However, a wide selection of goods can make the situation easier for unscrupulous sellers who are trying to make money from counterfeit products of popular brands, or goods of dubious quality.
“Such goods look like the original, at the same time they are more affordable, and even suspiciously so. For example, the price is set so that it has no competition,” said Shoptet director Samuel Huba. “Inexperienced customers may therefore succumb to the impression that they are buying an original at a favorable price, but the opposite is true,” he added.

According to him, the survey shows that electronics, cosmetics and various types of clothing are among the most common counterfeits. At the same time, it is not easy to find your way around the menu. The survey shows that customers often do not get what the label says. However, only 38 percent of the respondents started a complaint. The success with her subsequently was just over half.
When making complaints, people most often complain about problematic communication with the merchant. “But bad experiences don’t end there. This is followed by problems with the costs of sending the shipment, which the stores do not want to reimburse, even though they charged a fee for sending the goods,” explained Huba.
Cases of non-original or damaged cosmetics are complicated. There, the sellers refuse to recognize the complaint. Therefore, it is generally recommended to check both the given online marketplace, its reputation and evaluation, and possibly also the given seller.
