Cakolli emphasized that this is the first time in the political history of Kosovo that a candidate for prime minister, although the winner of the elections, fails to form the government.
“This is the first time in the political history of Kosovo that the prime minister mandated for the first time fails to secure the votes for a government despite a positive result in the last elections. Yesterday’s failure was somewhat expected. 6-7 months in Kosovo, blockades and such problems. The reports between the parties not only have political disagreements between them, but recently accusations have also been issued against the Vetëvendosje Movement.“, said the analyst.
According to him, the relations between the political forces have deteriorated significantly, moving from program disagreements to direct accusations against the Vetëvendosje Movement.
Speaking about the possibilities of future developments, Cakolli said that the greatest likelihood is that Kosovo will go to new elections, however, he did not completely rule out the possibility of forming a new government within the 10-day deadline that the country’s president has.
“The biggest chances are that we will have elections, but I do not expect that there will be developments during the 10-day deadline. The period during which the president of Kosovo must call in consultation with the political subjects and that any of them, without excluding Vetëvendosje, manages to prove that he has secured the numbers either by coalition agreement or by individual “fishing” of the deputies, the possibility of the country having a new government is not excluded.“, said Cakolli.
