Actress Nadia Farès has died. She drowned in the pool

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nadia Farès on Friday. France has lost a great artist, but for us, above all, it is a mother that we have just lost,” wrote Cylia and Shana Chasman.

The actress died at La Pitié Salpêtrière hospital in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, where she was taken on Sunday after being pulled unconscious from a pool at a private club in the 9th arrondissement. The police are investigating the incident, but according to them, there is no indication of illegal activity.

Farès was supposed to shoot her first feature film as a screenwriter and director in September. “Through hard work, constant questioning and perseverance, I found a great team. We are working together on an action comedy with (French TV production company) Studios TF1,” she said in a recent interview published in January in Gala magazine.

In it, she also mentioned that in 2007 she underwent brain surgery due to an aneurysm and that she underwent three heart surgeries in four years.

Nadia Farès was born on December 20, 1968 in Marrakesh, Morocco and grew up in Nice, France before moving to Paris.

She debuted in front of the cameras in 1990 with a small role in one of the episodes of the crime series Navarro (1989–2007). In 2000, she entered the wider awareness of the audience with a role in the French crime thriller Purple River, where she appeared alongside Jean Reno and Vincent Cassel. For example, she played in the American action film Boj (2007).

After that, she decided to interrupt her career and lived in Los Angeles in the United States with producer Steve Chasman, with whom she has Cylia and Shana. They broke up four years ago and she returned to France. In 2016, she returned to the screens in the Netflix series Marseille, where she played with Gérard Depardieu. After that, she appeared more in series, TV films or films intended for streaming platforms.
