Firefighters were called to the fire on Thursday, April 9 at approximately half past five in the afternoon.
“Fifteen fire engines are deployed and colleagues from the neighboring Hradec Králové region came to help us. Twenty workers were able to evacuate the area by themselves, none of them suffered any injuries,” explained fire brigade spokesperson Eva Masná around half past six in the early evening.
According to the firemen, the fire caused approximately 300 million crowns of damage. The fire was brought under control around 20:00, but the roof of the hall collapsed and the office building was also affected.
Firefighters took pressure cylinders out of the area and created five firefighting sections on the spot. They are also dealing with a fire in the neighboring meadow, where the fire jumped and the railway firefighters are helping to extinguish it. On the building itself, the fire mainly hit the roof structure, from where it then spread.
“Traffic on the adjacent railway line was suspended. Later, traffic on the line was restored, but the trains must pass at a reduced speed,” noted Masná.
Massive smoke billowed from the burning area, which could be seen from kilometers away. The fire had not been located before seven o’clock in the evening.
