Modernized F-16CJ machines are equipped with Angry Kitten systems, which were developed to disrupt enemy radars, communications and air defense systems. They are designed to be highly adaptable.
They use advanced digital radio frequency memory technology that allows radio frequency signals to be detected and captured, as well as manipulated and retransmitted. This means that they are capable of sending back signals from enemy radars and missile guidance devices, creating false or otherwise confusing tracks.
Twelve F-16CJ Viper aircraft equipped with the Angry Kitten system arrived on February 17 at the airport at the American-Portuguese base of Lajes on the island of Terceira, which is part of the Azores.
The very next day, accompanied by at least one KC-46A Pegasus refueling plane, according to The War Zone server, it flew on to the Middle East. Thanks to the “angry kittens”, the mentioned F-16 planes could go into battle with the Iranian air defense among the first.
The current war in the Middle East began with American and Israeli strikes on Iran on the morning of Saturday, February 28. Shortly thereafter, the Islamic Republic launched military retaliation and began attacking Israel and American bases and other targets in the Persian Gulf with missiles and drones.
Among other things, Iran’s supreme spiritual leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed during Operation Epic Fury. His second son Mojtaba Khamenei was elected as his successor, who according to some information was injured during the same raid.
