In the accompanying video, he shows that rain does not create clean puddles. “You can see that the rain, the rainwater is actually black and soaked in oil,” Pleitgen added, noting that the precipitation leaves dark streaks on the walls of houses.
Pleitgen further informs that the Alborz mountain range can usually be seen to the north of Tehran. But this panorama is now completely cloudy.
In Tehran, the apocalyptic atmosphere is expected to continue for several more days. Meteorologists expect light rain on Monday as well, but it will also depend on the wind.
Meanwhile, the Red Crescent has warned residents of Tehran to stay indoors until the air clears completely, even after the rain stops. Health officials advise residents to use saline solution to rinse the throat and nasal cavities and thus get rid of harmful particles.
“Inhaling pollutants of this kind can lead to long-term and short-term respiratory problems. In the longer term, it can also lead to cancer,” Jim Dale, chief meteorologist at the British Weather Services, told CNN.
Israel attacked four oil warehouses and a logistics center for transporting oil products in the Tehran area on Sunday night. “This is a significant strike, which represents another step in deepening the damage to the military infrastructure of the Iranian terrorist regime,” the Israeli army said in a statement.
