Ukraine criticized the detention and described it as kidnapping and state terrorism. Budapest expelled all the detainees on Friday, and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrij Sybiha confirmed that evening that everyone is now safe in their homeland.
The video shows armed members of the Hungarian TEK first watching Ukrainian cars from the car and then jumping out of the cars. Finally, they lead the Ukrainian employee of the state bank of Ukraine Oščadbank in handcuffs and knock on other Ukrainians.
The camera also caught the equipment of the Ukrainians, such as bulletproof vests, thrown on the ground. However, you can also see the shoes that they had to take off. The last shots then focus on approximately 1.7 billion crowns in dollars and euros and on nine gold bars that the Ukrainians were transporting.
The arrest took place on Thursday. Subsequently, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrij Sybiha informed about him, who described it as kidnapping and state terrorism. His Hungarian counterpart, Péter Szijjártó, said on Friday morning that it is necessary to investigate whether it is the money of the “Ukrainian military mafia”. According to Budapest, the money was transported, among other things, by a former general of the Ukrainian secret services. However, this information cannot be verified.
Sybiha also commented on the situation on Friday, when he threatened Hungary with sanctions if the Ukrainians were not released. This happened on Friday afternoon. Hungarian authorities expelled all seven Ukrainians.
“In their work, they were helped by persons with military experience,” quoted the statement of the Hungarian authorities there by the Index server. “In view of these facts, they were expelled from the territory of Hungary on Friday,” added the authorities.
The commander of the Hungarian anti-terrorist unit TEK János Hajdu found himself on the list of enemies of Ukraine on the Mirotvorec website. The website index.hu drew attention to it. Activists behind the Mirotvorec website justify this by the fact that TEK detained seven Ukrainian citizens on the territory of Hungary. “Hajdu was once the head of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s security,” the website index.hu pointed out.
