Spiropali and Konjufca: Coordination between the two states, the key to the European future

The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania, Elisa Spiropali, during her visit to Kosovo held an official meeting with her counterpart Glauk Konjufca.

In the media conference after the meeting, Spiropali emphasized the historical and strategic importance of relations between Albania and Kosovo.

“On my first visit as Foreign Minister immediately after the formation of the new government, I wish success in the consolidation of democratic institutions, the strengthening of the state of Kosovo and the well-being of its citizens. For us, Kosovo is not just protocol, but history and political choices. The Albania-Kosovo relationship is the continuation of a common journey, carved in sacrifice, endurance and historical determination for national progress”declared Spiropali.

The minister also mentioned the moment of 1999 as a reference point where the world recognized the injustices, but also the dignity of a people who sought freedom.

“The year 2026 should be the moment of full consolidation of Kosovo’s international subjectivity and the final closure of any historical uncertainty about its place in Europe”she added.

For Minister Glauk Konjufca, close coordination with Albania is the key to advancing Kosovo’s international aspirations.

“I thanked Spiropali as always for the support that the Republic of Albania has given to Kosovo and our state building, as well as for representing our interests in the international arena. I am convinced that our coordination will strengthen Kosovo’s effort for membership in the Council of Europe, NATO and other international organizations”he said.

Konjufca added that the future of Albania and Kosovo will always be connected and the stronger the coordination between the two states, the safer the road to the European Union will be. He also congratulated Albania for the big steps in the European integration process and expressed the wish that Kosovo follow the same model.

The meeting of the two ministers underlined not only the traditional friendship between the two countries, but also the joint commitment to the advancement of European policies and the strengthening of Kosovo’s citizenship and international subjectivity.
