The chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku, has stated that his party has decided to give up any request for political positions in the government and in these circumstances will remain in the opposition.
After the meeting of the LDK parliamentary group, Abdixhiku said that the party will not turn political frustration into a blockade and that it remains ready to contribute to solving the institutional deadlock in Kosovo.
“Despite this attitude, the LDK will not turn political frustration into a blockade. We are ready to discuss the solution of a president who protects the interests of the Republic”, said Abdixhiku.
He announced that LDK has given up all the positions that were offered to him, including the chairmanship of the Assembly, the three ministries proposed in the meeting with Albin Kurti, as well as the position of the President.
According to Abdixik, the position of the LDK is that the institutions are created and the country emerges from the crisis through the election of a consensual president.
“We have given up all positions, be it the speaker of the Assembly, be it the three ministries offered in the meeting with Kurt, be it the post of the President. We support the creation of institutions and the election of a consensual president to unlock the crisis”, he said.
Abdixik’s statement comes at a time when Kosovo continues to face the political and institutional stalemate, regarding the constitution of the Assembly and the election of the President.
