The spokesman of the Central Election Commission, Valmir Elezi, in a press conference, announced the progress of the election process and the start of activities in the municipal counting centers.
Elezi announced that after the completion of voting in 2,498 regular polling stations and other election procedures, materials were withdrawn from 949 polling stations and sent to 38 municipal counting centers.
“After the end of the voting process in 2498 regular polling stations, the process of counting the votes of political subjects has been completed and after the completion of other procedures, the election materials from 949 voting centers have been withdrawn and sent to 38 municipal counting centers”, declared Elezi.
He emphasized that according to the Law on General Elections, the counting of votes for political subjects is done in polling stations, while the counting of votes for candidates for deputies takes place in municipal counting centers.
According to him, in these centers the verification of the results of political subjects from the forms filled in at the polling stations will be done, while the process will be developed with complete transparency and the results will be progressively published on the CEC results platform.
“This same process will be done in 38 municipal counting centers, in which work will be done in two shifts. According to the decision of the CEC, more than 2,200 members will be engaged in these centers within 580 counting teams”, said Elezi.
He announced that on Monday morning the counting and verification started in 15 municipalities, while in the afternoon the activities will start in 23 other municipalities.
Speaking about other forms of voting, Elezi said that the CEC has enabled conditional voting, voting through mobile teams for people with special needs, as well as voting outside Kosovo at diplomatic missions and through the mail.
“According to preliminary data from 52 conditional polling stations in 38 municipalities of the country, in general, 8,751 voters were registered to vote conditional, while 3,144 voters were registered in the voting program for persons with special needs”, declared the spokesperson of the CEC.
