26th anniversary of the Kosovo Police, Osmani: To join INTERPOL. Kurti: did not leave the chance to the crime in the north

Kosovo Police marks the 26th anniversary of its establishment, where during a ceremony the heads of state praised its commitment in ensuring security throughout the country.

President Vjosa Osmani said that the police uniform is more than a legal task, but an act of patriotism. It reiterated the necessity for Kosovo to join international security organizations such as INTERPOL.

“We celebrate the history of the police, which is the history of courage, dedication and confrontation with the challenges that our state has passed and passed every day. Any Kosovo Police uniform is a service, a symbol of law, law and state dignity. It remains to be joined in Interpol and other international organizations, because our police and police place, Osman.

While Prime Minister Kurti stopped at the police role in the north of the country, saying that she did not leave the chance to crime and illegal structures sponsored by Serbia.

“It has shown that it is the foundation of our security and for this reason we as institutions will always be alongside it by supporting it by all means. During this year the Kosovo Police has again confirmed that it is courageous and steadfast in its work, in the north it again did not leave a chance, terrorism and illegal structures sponsored by Serbia“Said Kurti.

Kurti also praised the involvement of communities in the Kosovo and Serbian police, while comparing this to the situation in Serbia, where according to him, Albanians in the Presevo Valley continue to be discriminated against by not being involved in security institutions.

10% of our police are members of the communities and over half of them belong to the Serbian community, this is our vision for integration and coexistence. Serbia, meanwhile, continues to discriminate against Albanians in the Presevo Valley by not giving it room for its security institutions. This contrast clearly shows the difference between our democratic republic and the discriminatory policies of an authoritarian state like Serbia, ”Kurti said.

Kosovo Police was established in 1999, after the Kosovo war. The OSCE Mission in Kosovo, in accordance with the United Nations Resolution 1244, opened the police school and started training candidates for members of the Kosovo Police.

The first generation of Kosovo Police candidates numbered 176 members as its first effective ones.
