WHEN WILL IT SNOW?
AKOM announced that air temperatures will drop by 2-4 degrees and that snowfall is expected in Istanbul on Sunday. Meteorology has issued yellow and orange code warnings for 31 cities for today.
According to the statement made by AKOM, cold and rainy weather coming from the Balkans is expected to be effective in the Marmara Region, especially in Istanbul, over the weekend. It is estimated that temperatures below seasonal norms will cool down by 2-4 degrees and drop to winter values, and precipitation will occur throughout the province.
Precipitation expected to be seen as rain on Saturday is expected to turn into sleet on Sunday and snow starting in the evening. Local heavy snowfall transitions are expected until Monday afternoon.
Air temperatures in Istanbul are expected to be 2-5 degrees below seasonal norms until January 31, and around or 1-3 degrees above seasonal norms between February 1-10.
It is estimated that it will decrease by 2 to 4 degrees in the southern and western parts, and there will be no significant change in other places. Since precipitation is expected to be heavy in the areas of Bolu, Kastamonu, Karabük, the highlands of Zonguldak, Bartın, Düzce provinces, the highlands of the south and east of Sakarya, the Southeastern Anatolia region in general, the northeast of Eastern Anatolia, the areas of Hatay, Elazığ, Bingöl, Muş, Bitlis, Şırnak and Hakkari, the coast of Adana, the southern parts of Van, and the eastern districts of Erzincan, Tunceli and Malatya, it is necessary to be careful and take precautions against possible adverse conditions (transportation disruptions, icing and frost, etc.).
