Free and very practical advice: Don’t get in Ukraine’s eyes,” the “Hungarian” wrote in a post on Facebook, honoring the Belarusian dictator with a title once used by regional leaders of the German Nazi NSDAP.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, after meeting with representatives of the army and secret services, announced last week that, according to their information, Russia is planning new offensives on Kiev through the Chernihiv region, which borders Russia and Belarus in the north of Ukraine.
“We believe that Russia will again try to drag Belarus into its war. I have given instructions to warn the de facto leadership of Belarus through the appropriate channels about Ukraine’s readiness to defend its country and independence. The nature and consequences of recent events in Venezuela should dissuade the Belarusian leadership from making mistakes,” wrote Zelensky, alluding to the fate of another Russian ally, Nicolás Maduro, who was abducted by American special forces in January to New York, where he was brought to trial.
In mid-May, the Belarusian Ministry of Defense announced that Moscow and Minsk had started training simulating the use of nuclear weapons.
“Only in one case will we be drawn into a war, into a war against Ukraine, if they commit aggression against us. We are not going to be drawn into a war in Ukraine. It is not necessary,” Lukashenko said this month.
