On Thursday, the Washington Post published a report about the prepared banknotes with Trump’s portrait. The proposed form of the new currency is very close to the proposal, which was shown in January by the Republican Congressman Andy Barr together with the Chief Treasurer of the USA, Brandon Beach.
“He repeatedly urged employees of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing of the Treasury Department to prepare a note with Trump’s image on it,” WP noted.
British painter Iain Alexander should be the author of the design of the “250-dollar bill”, which Trump allegedly fell in love with.
However, the proposal stands on shaky legs, according to the law from 1866, only deceased persons can be depicted on American paper money.
Trump wants to put his portrait on a new banknote — a move without precedent

“The printing press is doing the proper preparation and care in connection with the $250 bill. If this legislative proposal is approved, we will issue a commemorative $250 bill,” specified the spokesperson of the Ministry of Finance, adding that the issue of the jubilee banknote would have to be approved by Congress.
According to the statements of current and former employees, the preparation of issuing a banknote with such a high value would take six to eight years. “Those people think that they just need to print something overnight and it will work immediately in an ATM. That’s just crazy,” one of them revealed to WP.
Due to similar statements, Brandon Beach also dismissed the director of the federal printing house, Patricia Solimeneová, from her position at the end of April.
The proposal for a banknote with Trump’s portrait has been in the House of Representatives since last February, where it was supposed to be discussed by the Financial Services Commission, but it has not yet been discussed.
