The Axios server already wrote on Tuesday, referring to unnamed American and Russian officials, that the Trump administration is secretly consulting with Russia on a new peace plan for Ukraine. The proposal, inspired by Trump’s Gaza ceasefire plan, reportedly has 28 points and includes peace in Ukraine, security guarantees, security in Europe and future US relations with Russia and Ukraine.
Ukraine is not involved in the creation of the document. Although the US informed her in general terms, she does not know the details and was not even asked for suggestions, NBC reported.
“The president has made it clear that it is time to stop the killing and make an agreement to end the war. President Trump believes that with a willingness to be flexible, there is a chance to end this senseless war,” the station quoted an unnamed White House official as saying.
According to NBC News, the preparation of the plan is being coordinated by US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, Vice President JD Vance and the President’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. The media reported on the proposals that Ukraine should give up part of its territory and reduce the size of the army.
The Kremlin announced on Wednesday that it is still in contact with Washington, but that it has nothing new to say about a possible peace plan to end the conflict in Ukraine since Trump’s summit with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in August. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that contacts with the Americans continue, but so far not enough has been done to organize a new summit.
The conflict in Ukraine began in 2014 with the illegal annexation of Crimea and the war in Donbas, and after eight years Russian leader Putin expanded it to a full-scale aggression against Ukraine. It is the largest armed conflict since the end of the Second World War.
