Transport is collapsing in the Giant Mountains. There are queues in front of Špindlerův Mlýn, the parking lots are full

The police are on site patrolling and directing traffic. The spokeswoman strongly recommends people heading to the mountains to choose another place where it is not so crowded, the spokeswoman said.

“People can’t get there anymore, cars are standing in lines,” said Pižlová. “We would like to inform motor vehicle drivers that all parking capacity in the Špindlerův Mlýn center is currently 100 percent full. Vehicles heading to the center are already standing in queues. We encourage visitors to use public transport from Vrchlabí,” the police said on the X network.

There is a risk of small or medium avalanches

There is 50 to 80 centimeters of snow on the Krkonoše ridges. Temperatures will be above freezing during the day. Avalanches from wet snow can form on southern and sunny slopes. In the Krkonoše Mountains, the first degree of avalanche danger from a five-point scale applies.

“Avalanche release is only possible with a large additional load, and only rarely in very steep extreme terrain. There is a possibility of spontaneous release of small or medium-sized avalanches, which usually stop still on the slope,” said the mountain rescuers.

In recent days, there was an excessive number of visitors at Šerlich in Orlické hory, the parking lot in the mountain saddle was full on Wednesday and Saturday. In that case, the police recommends that tourists use regular buses to travel up.
