“The accident occurred on Sunday before twenty-one hours on road II/495 near Uherské Ostroh. The driver of a Ford Mondeo driving to Moravský Písek drove off the road, where she hit a tall tree head-on. She and the vehicle were thrown back onto the road,” said police spokesman Radomír Šiška.
According to the police, the 18-year-old female passenger suffered injuries from which she succumbed despite the best efforts of the rescuers. The driver, who was breathalyzed with a negative result, was airlifted to the Brno hospital with serious injuries.
The exact cause and circumstances of this tragic accident are being investigated by the traffic police together with criminal investigators.
According to the available data, the young woman is the ninth victim of this year’s traffic accidents on the roads in the Zlín region. According to official police statistics, 28 people died in traffic accidents in the region last year. There were 15 of them in 2024, 20 a year earlier.
