Tisza Péter Magyar’s party increased the number of mandates

In some single-mandate constituencies, it took several days before correspondence votes from abroad were also counted. Those in three districts turned the result in favor of the candidates of the Tisza party. As the National Electoral Office informs, this happened in the cities of Mohács, Dombóvár and Paks. The increase by another mandate took place within the so-called compensation system that favors the winning party.

According to Sunday’s results, Tisza should have had 137 seats, but the number of mandates of the winning party has now increased to 141. Orbán’s Fidesz will have 52 seats in the new parliament, and the Naše Vlast movement will have six seats.

Magyar on social networks welcomed the increase in the number of mandates for the Tisza party. “The first free weekend after the regime change begins,” he wrote on Facebook on Saturday.

According to the Hungarian electoral system, out of the total number of 199 members of parliament, only 93 are chosen from party candidates. The remaining 106 are elected in the so-called single-mandate constituencies.
