The world welcomes the arrival of 2025. A minute of silence in South Korea

Over 500 kilograms of pyrotechnics were set off in five minutes from the observation and telecommunications tower Sky Tower in Auckland, New Zealand. On the Harbor Bridge, about a kilometer away, spectators could watch an eight-minute laser show.

At 13:00 CET, the island of Fiji in Oceania or the far-eastern part of Russia entered the new year.

Spectacular fireworks in Sydney

In Australia, where in most areas midnight occurred at 14:00 CET, a traditional spectacular fireworks display took place at the Sydney Opera House. According to some estimates, the spectacle launched from the Harbor Bridge (it has the same name as the bridge in Auckland, note red.) and his surroundings were watched by a million people.

People in Sydney have been looking for the best places to see the fireworks from 6:00 a.m. (Monday 8:00 p.m. CET). The adjacent park was already full after six hours, and rescuers were handing out bottles of water to people, because the temperatures in the evening exceeded twenty degrees. Places with a good view were also tried to be found by private and sightseeing boats, which anchored on the river in front of both buildings, the ABC Net website wrote.

Melbourne in the south of the country fired fireworks twice from the roofs of 27 buildings in the central business district. In the northwest of Australia, pyrotechnics and drones could be seen, in eastern Brisbane, according to ABC Net, more than five tons of pyrotechnics were set off.

In Japan or on the Korean peninsula, at 16:00 CET, they welcomed the arrival of the new year by ringing bells. In Tokyo, people gathered in one of the temples of the Japanese metropolis to pray for the coming year before the midnight bell.

In South Korea, all New Year’s celebrations were canceled in connection with Sunday’s plane crash. According to the BBC, the Seoul City Hall said that the traditional ringing will be without an accompanying performance and with a minute of silence.

North Korea organized a big midnight concert for the new year, which was attended by leader Kim Jong-un and his family. The organizers included primarily patriotic songs sung by local celebrities, fireworks and also a drone parade, the Reuters agency reported.

In recent years, countries – especially in Europe – have been limiting the use of fireworks and concentrating on concerts or other cultural events, for example.
