The search for bigfoot in the state of Washington ended in tragedy, the men froze to death

The search for two men from Portland, Oregon began on December 25 after a relative reported to authorities that they had not returned from a trip to the Gifford Pinchot National Forest to search for evidence of the mythical hairy bipedal hominid.

60 volunteers, dogs and airplanes were involved in the search, the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office said, adding that it was extremely cold in the area. According to the sheriff’s office, both men apparently died precisely as a result of the cold weather and their unpreparedness.

A car belonging to one of the men was found near the village of Willard, and the search with the help of a helicopter and drones therefore focused on the surrounding area. The authorities did not release the names of the deceased, but said that the men were 37 and 59 years old.

In the days before and during the search, freezing weather prevailed in the Cascade Mountains, accompanied by snowfall, freezing rain and temperatures below freezing. The rescuers also had to fight with high water levels in the rivers and fallen trees.

Along with the Loch Ness monster, Bigfoot belongs to the most famous mythical creatures. According to rumors, he was observed in a number of places on the northwest coast of the USA and in western Canada. In some places, people have reported seeing the creature so many times that local authorities have taken humorous measures to protect it. In the district of Skamania, where the couple disappeared, a person can get a year in prison or a fine of 1,000 dollars (24 thousand crowns) if they hurt a bigfoot.
