According to the police, who reported on the case on Facebook, the train was traveling from the Czech Republic to Slovakia. “Yesterday afternoon, the patrol of the Railway Control Department of the police in Žilina, on the basis of information obtained from the operative activities of the Žilina criminal investigators, carried out an inspection of the train driver,” they said on the network.
First, they let the train driver breathe to see if he was under the influence of alcohol. This test was negative. “However, the orientation test for the presence of narcotic and psychotropic substances was positive,” they added.
The train driver, a 50-year-old Czech, was under the influence of amphetamine and methamphetamine. These contain, for example, methamphetamine or a stimulant called “speed”, which increases energy and, conversely, reduces fatigue.
After the orientation test, the man submitted to the collection of biological material, which should reveal what exactly the driver’s drug was. The police continue to deal with the case. They did not say which carrier it was.
