The White House called actor Clooney a war criminal

“Tonight an entire civilization will disappear, never to return. I don’t want it to happen, but it probably will,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Tuesday.

“Some say Donald Trump is fine,” Clooney said Thursday during a speech to 3,000 high school girls in Cuneo, Italy. “But if someone says they want to destroy civilization, it’s a war crime,” he added in a speech at an event organized by his human rights foundation.

According to him, Trump’s statement constitutes a war crime based on the Genocide Convention and the Rome Statute. He emphasized that even when supporting a conservative point of view, there is a limit of decency that cannot be crossed.

“The only person who commits war crimes is George Clooney with his terrible movies and appalling acting skills,” White House communications director Steven Cheung said in response.

Childish swear words

Clooney responded by recalling the serious effects of the conflict and calling for a serious debate.

“Families are losing loved ones. Children have been burned to ashes. The world economy is on the brink of an abyss. It’s time for an intense debate at the highest level. Not for childish insults. I’ll start. A war crime is allegedly committed when there is an intention to physically destroy a nation,” the actor wrote in his statement to Deadline. “What is the government’s defense other than calling me a failed actor?” he added.

Clooney has long openly expressed support for the Democratic Party and is known for his political involvement, inspired by his journalist father and wife and human rights lawyer Amal Clooney.

Trump has already responded several times to Clooney’s criticism with insults regarding his acting career, which Clooney takes with humor and perspective. Despite the vast differences in their political views, Clooney spoke about the fact that he had a good relationship with Trump before his presidency.
