The US is sending several thousand additional troops to the Middle East

The decision to boost its presence in the region comes at a time of rising tensions following the killing of Hezbollah terrorist group leader Hassan Nasrallah and other Israeli airstrikes on the group’s troops in Lebanon.

According to Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singhová, it will primarily be squadrons of F-15E Strike Eagle, F-16, A-10 and F-22 combat aircraft and personnel providing their support, writes the AP agency.

These units were supposed to replace the squadrons that are already operating on the spot. Due to the escalation in the area, however, the “old” units will remain in place.

Already on Sunday, US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin stated that he is temporarily extending the operation of the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier group.

The United States resorted to this step at a time when tensions are increasing in the Middle East, among others between Israel and Lebanon. In mid-September, Israel was supposed to detonate the pagers of thousands of Hezbollah fighters, the explosions subsequently injured thousands of people and killed more than a dozen of them. A day later, the explosions of radios followed.

The Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah has been regularly attacking Israel since October 7, when the terrorist movement Hamas attacked Israel and murdered 1,200 people, mostly civilians.
