The state representative accused Mynář in the case of unauthorized acquisition of almost six million European subsidies intended for the reconstruction of a boarding house in Osvětimany in Slovakia. Mynář’s company Clever Management received the money. Last year, the company returned the subsidy.
Former president Miloš Zeman’s chancellor Vratislav Mynář
Earlier, according to ČTK, Mynář called the accusations purposeful. His lawyer proposed to the judge a preliminary hearing of the case in closed session. According to him, the preliminary proceedings did not proceed properly and he requested the return of the case for further investigation in order to eliminate procedural defects, or to stop the criminal prosecution of the defendant. However, neither Mynář nor his lawyer succeeded with the proposals.
The subsidy for the boarding house in Osvětimany was allocated to Mynář’s company by the office of the Regional Council of the Central Moravian Cohesion Region, which administers the distribution of part of the subsidies from the European Union. After checking the financing, during which he encountered doubts, the office asked the police to check the subsidy. According to the office, the company Clever Management did not state in the application for a subsidy, contrary to the instructions, that the building was already subsidized by the Ministry of Education.
Support was paid without authorization
In 2008, the Ministry of Education approved thirteen million crowns for a dormitory for athletes of the Chřibák Association, in which Mynář was the landlord. The project was subsequently taken over by the Clever Management company and signed a lease agreement with the association. However, according to the Seznam Zprávy server, the contract was in conflict with the terms of the subsidy, the association was not allowed to rent the building to anyone for ten years. According to the investigators, the support was paid illegally.

Mynář’s case has moved even villages from the very beginning. In Auschwitz, however, many locals stand by the former chancellor, which is evidenced not only by the results in the last municipal elections, in which he received the absolute most preferential votes. “Auschwitz was before he was chancellor, and will be after him. What he built here for the village will stay here. We take him here normally as a guy from the village. I do not believe that he acted in violation of the law,” confirmed an elderly man from Auschwitz some time ago, who did not wish to give his name.
He has support in Auschwitz
His friend and mayor Aleš Pfeffer (NK) recently spoke about the former chancellor. “Mr. Mynář still remains in Auschwitz. People like him. Not like in the rest of the republic,” said Pfeffer, who is in his sixth year as mayor.

An interesting fact is that both Mynář and Pfeffer ranked highest in the number of votes obtained in the last two municipal elections. “I won in 2018, and Vráť won four years later. But he left the post of mayor to me, even though he knew he was ending as chancellor,” said Pfeffer. When asked if he would leave the post of mayor to him in the next election, he answered: “If he asked for it and said he wanted to be mayor, and maybe he wouldn’t even have to finish before me, I probably wouldn’t have a problem with that.” He has my full confidence.’
In Mynář’s case, the court has set aside four October dates for the main trial. It is not certain whether the regional judicial panel will be able to make a decision within the planned four days.
