Following the decision of the United States of America to suspend the strategic dialogue with Kosovo indefinitely, the Kosovo government has reacted through its spokesman, Perparim Kryeziu. In a long post on social networks, Kryeziu stressed that the Republic of Kosovo remains the US most serious partner for stability, security and peace in the region.
Kryeziu has stated that the Government of Kosovo also welcomes criticism and, when they are concrete, strives to improve and correct its actions.
He praised the government’s work to eliminate destabilization homes in order to guarantee sustainable and long -term stability. According to him, the current stability is the result of the rule of law and the public order, adding that “there has never been more rule of law and fighting crime and corruption throughout Kosovo in Kosovo.”
Full reaction of spokesman Perparim Kryeziu: “Our government has been the first to fulfill the full mandate since the declaration of independence. This has contributed to the institutional stability and socio-economic development of the country, despite all the global challenges we have experienced from 2021 onwards, including the consequences of the Pandemia, the Energy Crisis and the war in Ukraine.
Our actions, lawful and constitutional, have at all times been in the service of eliminating destability in the aim of guaranteeing sustainable and long -term stability. The stability we enjoy today is a natural result of the rule of law and public order. In Kosovo there has never been more rule of law and fighting crime and corruption throughout the territory of Kosovo. In the past, stability is aimed at the expense of the rule of law and public order, and consequently we have had false stability. This has been best proven in the May 2023 violent events and protests in which individuals and criminal groups did not spare either KFOR and EULEX members in their attacks. Meanwhile, the terrorist and paramilitary attack in Banjska in September of that year, with the direct involvement of the state of Serbia, has revealed to the whole world who and where in fact is the source of destability in the region. We express our in -depth conviction that the Republic of Kosovo is the most serious partner of the United States of America for stability, security and peace in the region.
We have depoliticized the integration of Serbs into the state of Kosovo. The will of our fellow citizens for integration has never been lacking. But he has often been challenged by illegal structures and criminal groups. We have faced Serbian structures in Kosovo not with Kosovo Serbs. We have never equated Serbian citizens in Kosovo with Serbia’s illegal and parallel structures in Kosovo. On the contrary, we have defended and protecting our Serbian fellow citizens from the same structures that have long been used as mechanisms and instruments of intimidation, threat and control. At the same time, by replacing them with the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo we have made sure that there is no vacuum of services. We are also committed to sustainable integration of Serbs into our society and institutions, especially through employment and education, as is the case with employment measure for the inhabitants of the four municipalities in the north of the country and the verification of diplomas of the University of North Mitrovica in order to facilitate the employment of fellow citizens from the Serb community, along with other social measures.
Regarding the Prime Minister’s public criticism of the Constitutional Court, it is his open stance that with its decisions, the Constitutional Court has violated the democratic character of the Independent Republic, and that with its inefficiency in the treatment of cases it has been involved in the agenda of opposition political parties to delay the fundamental reforms. Recall that there are currently 18 laws still without any decision of the Constitutional Court, which are awaiting a review of at least 9 months, with an emphasis on the Law on Sovereign Fund which is unanswered more than 1 year and 8 months.

We welcome the criticism as well. Whenever we are concrete we try our best to improve and correct our steps and actions. “
Meanwhile, the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, also reacted. Referring to the United States’s decision to suspend strategic dialogue with Kosovo, it has described this alliance as fundamental to the country’s statehood and future.
According to Osman, the relationship with the US is not only diplomatic but also existential for Kosovo’s state and national identity.
“The Republic of Kosovo is built on the foundations of invincible friendship with the United States of America. This report is not only diplomatic, but an existential part of our state and national identity. To this end, the president’s commitment has been and remains steadfast and continuous, as has been repeatedly confirmed by the United States leadership, including President Trump’s latest letter to President Osmani of August 2025. Therefore, the President expresses deep regret and concern about the decision to suspend strategic dialogue, an important mechanism of cooperation between Kosovo. Following the extraordinary work of the Presidency and the State Department, this process was finalized with the final confirmation at the meeting between President Osmani and the State Department in January 2025. The issue of alliance with the US is a strategic issue that requires political unity and engagement in Kosovo. Citizens of Kosovo know that their freedom became a reality with the crucial help of the US and that without this historical friendship we would never have reached where we are Today, ”reads the Osman statement published by the Presidency.
Osman further states that he will continue to work closely with the United States in all areas of common interest.
“The security of the Republic of Kosovo is strongly linked to the support of the United States of America, so everyone must take with the utmost seriousness and responsibility the preservation of this sacred alliance. The strategic dialogue achieved in January 2025 is a very valuable mechanism of this cooperation. In this spirit, the Presidency of the Republic of Kosovo will be highly and with high dedication to resume this dialogue as soon as possible, because our partnership with the United States is not only a guarantee for the present, but also the safest compass towards the future, ” Osman’s statement ends.
