“The Special Court aims for the KLA”, Ahmeti: The Hague process, politically influenced by birth

The head of the Democratic Union for Integration, Ali Ahmeti, has commented on developments in the Hague Special Court, saying the process is politically influenced and aims to weaken support for the liberation war.

He stated that this is an initiative organized by the East to hit the US, the EU and NATO, under the pretext that they have supported armies that have committed crimes.

“This is a highly organized war from the East to fight the West, the United States of America, NATON, the European Union, that they have supported armies that have committed crimes, disoriented and unorganized people, but the testimony of the Deputy Secretary of State, the testimony of Rambouillet adviser and other testimonies will not be revealed by anyone.”Ahmeti said.

He called the “Yellow Book”, on which the accusations were initially raised, as a “king tale” built to stain the KLA.

“This process has begun badly, this process has begun in the most tendentious way with the Yellow Book. When it was seen that the yellow book is a tale with king only to compress the Kosovo Liberation Army, then the accusations changed with a nonsense accusation of criminal enterprises, so I am very convinced that the right will win, the right will come out.”He said.

Asked about the support of Kosovo’s institutions for the former KLAs being tried, he said he has no detailed information, but added that it is a state duty to support them.

“Kosovo has responsibility and the bottom line are people who have contributed to Kosovo’s independence. They are not ordinary people but are people who have carried responsibility to liberation and to Kosovo’s independence,” He said.

Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi, accused of alleged war crimes, are being tried in The Hague. They have been acquitted of all points of the indictment and the defense claims that the KLA did not have an organized command structure. The indictment has been made public in 2020 and since then, the four former KLAs have been in Detention in The Hague. The trial began in April 2023 and the defense must submit the final documents until December 22 this year.
