After the mentioned gesture of the student, the police in the gymnasium already dealt with two security incidents. On Tuesday, YouTuber Martin Daňo entered the school without permission, on Wednesday the police intervened against an aggressive woman who entered the building. According to Markíza TV, the school also faces threatening and hateful e-mails.
The Deputy Speaker of the Slovak Parliament, Andrej Danko (Slovak National Party), even suggested that Thursday’s fatal knife attack on a gymnasium in eastern Slovakia may be related to not shaking hands with the president. An unnamed parent of a Bratislava grammar school student described Dank’s statement as outrageous for Denník N.
At the same time, Minister of Education Tomáš Drucker (Voice) asked politicians, the media and the public to approach the tragedy in eastern Slovakia with maximum sensitivity and to avoid speculation and hasty conclusions. Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smér) even recommended “political silence to every overmotivated person”.

The student thanks for the support
Student Simon Omaník thanked in a story on his Instagram account for the support he received in recent days. “I want to believe that in our democratic country we all have the freedom to stand up and defend our opinion. Such a privilege of freedom and democracy should never be a reason for hatred, polarization, threats or personal attacks,” said the student of the Bratislava grammar school. He condemned any attacks on the school, teachers and his loved ones.
On Monday, Pellegrini honored the students who won medals in the international rounds of the Olympiads in various subjects. The Omani won a bronze medal at the Central European Mathematical Olympiad in Szeged, Hungary.
“I have a personal and political problem with President Pellegrini because, in my opinion, he got into the palace by cheating and lying to people,” said the Omani, who pinned a ribbon in Ukrainian colors to his jacket during a visit to the Presidential Palace. For not shaking hands with the president, he also earned harsh public criticism from Prime Minister Fico.
