The Richness of Turkish Was Spoken in Pristina

The opening of the “7th International Türkiye Turkish Dialect Research Workshop” held in Pristina, the capital of Kosovo, was held with a ceremony.

The opening ceremony held at the Pristina Yunus Emre Institute (YEE) conference hall was attended by Türkiye’s Ambassador to Pristina Sabri Tunç Angılı, Turkish Language Association (TDK) Vice President Harun Şahin, YEE Kosovo Coordinator Ramazan Yılmaz, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) Kosovo Coordinator Fulya Aslan, as well as representatives of Turkish institutions and organizations in the country, from Turkey and Kosovo. Academicians and guests attended.

In the speeches, topics such as the richness of Turkish, its areas of use in the Balkans and the importance of the Turkish language in the existence of Turks in the Balkans were touched upon.

Information was given about the Turkish Language and Literature Department, which has been operating within the University of Pristina for 37 years, and the importance of the work of the said department was emphasized.

After the speeches, the ceremony ended with the presentation of awards and gifts.

The workshop will last until October 25

In the workshop, which is organized to accelerate Turkish dialect research in Turkey and to provide high-level discussion and information exchange among experts in the field, subjects such as the history, formation and classification of Balkan Turkish dialects, the relations of Balkan Turkish dialects with regional languages, the compilation and processing of the dialects of Balkan immigrants living in Türkiye and their relations with other Anatolian dialects will be discussed.

The “7th International Turkey Turkish Dialect Research Workshop”, which will last until October 25, is organized in cooperation with TDK, YEE, TIKA, Ataturk Higher Institution of Culture, Language and History, and hosted by the University of Pristina.
