The President of the Kosovo Olympic Committee, Ismet Krasniqi, has stated that the Prishtina 2030 Mediterranean Games constitute a historic opportunity for the country, emphasizing the great economic and developmental impact that major sports events bring. He made these comments during the Conference of American investors held in Pristina.
Krasniqi emphasized the importance of organizing such events for the development of the country and for strengthening international partnerships.
“Prishtina has the potential to become a regional center for major international sporting events. Such events generate tourism, create jobs, stimulate local businesses and strengthen international partnerships. The economic impact of major sporting events is witnessed around the world, from infrastructure development to attracting long-term investments. In this context, I would like to highlight one of the most important moments that awaits us: the Prishtina Mediterranean Games 2030. The Mediterranean Games represent a historic opportunity for Kosovo and for Pristina. They are not just a sporting event, they are a national development project. These Games will accelerate the development of infrastructure, strengthen institutional cooperation and create long-term economic benefits for our country,” emphasized Krasniqi.
He also spoke about the preparations that have already started for this major event, emphasizing the broad development vision related to it.
“Preparations for Pristina 2030 already reflect a broader vision: modern sports facilities, improved urban infrastructure, expanded tourism capacities and a stronger international positioning. This is exactly where sport meets investment and where strategic partnerships become essential. We strongly believe that cooperation between public institutions, international partners and the private sector is the key to achieving these ambitious goals. The presence of investors, business leaders and international partners here today sends a strong message – that Pristina is open for cooperation, open for development and open for the future”, declared Krasniqi.
The Mediterranean Games are an international multidisciplinary sporting event that is organized every four years under the umbrella of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games and includes countries surrounding the Mediterranean Sea, such as from Europe, North Africa and West Asia.
The 2030 edition will be held in Pristina, marking the first time that Kosovo organizes such an event of this level. The 2030 Prishtina Mediterranean Games are expected to include hundreds of athletes from dozens of participating countries, in a wide range of Olympic disciplines./KosovaPress/
