The Presidency announces urgency: the constitution of institutions, key to Kosovo’s stability and credibility

The Presidency of Kosovo has described as “state -owned emergency” as soon as possible the new institutions, warning of the profound damage that is causing delays to the country in a period of major regional and international challenges.

In a statement to RTKLIVE, the Presidency emphasized that the immediate creation of institutions, in accordance with the recent decision of the Constitutional Court, is vital to stability, democratic representation and addressing the interests of citizens.

The delay so far, according to her, has damaged not only the credibility of internal institutions, but also hampered Kosovo’s progress in the international arena.

The Presidency appeals to all MPs to act responsibly and in the spirit of cooperation, so that the state can consolidate and successfully cope with the important processes that await it, including strengthening its position internationally.

After 54 failures, the Assembly meets again after the decision of the Constitutional Court

After a long blockage and 54 failed attempts to be constituted, deputies of the ninth legislature of the Kosovo Assembly will convene again tomorrow (20/8), at 11:00, on the first attempt after the announcement of the new judgment by the Constitutional Court.

The Court’s decision, announced yesterday, clarifies the procedure of constitution: the hearing must continue with the election of the chairman and vice presidents. The judgment specifies that the largest parliamentary group must propose the candidate for Speaker of Parliament, who will be voted openly, with the possibility of voting up to three times for the same candidate.

Tomorrow’s hearing will be the first to be held after the removal of the temporary measure suspending any decision -making by the MPs. All the attention is now focused on this meeting, where it is expected that political parties will be able to find a solution to the prolonged blockade, fulfilling the Presidency’s appeal for state responsibility.
