The predictions came true. Italy and Bosnia in the grip of floods, Croatia is troubled by downpours

In Bosnia, the worst situation is in the central and southern part of the country, where towns and villages are flooded. The town of Jablanica, which is located halfway between the metropolis of Sarajevo and the town of Mostar, is completely cut off from the surrounding world. It was there that 14 people lost their lives.

Flash floods destroyed roads and railway tracks. “At the moment, we have found 14 bodies in the Jablanica area. Unfortunately, there is a good chance that this will not be the final number of victims,” said local administration spokesman Darko Jukan.

One of the most frequented roads connecting Sarajevo via Jablanica with the Adriatic coast was swept away together with the railway line by a huge landslide. The city of Kiseljak, located about 20 kilometers north of Sarajevo, is similarly situated. Many places are without electricity and mobile signal.

Heavy rain and wind are also reported in neighboring Croatia, where several roads have been closed and the metropolis of Zagreb is preparing for the possibility that the Sava River will overflow its banks. Torrential rains also plague Černá hora.

Italy is also in the grip of downpours and storms. The worst situation is in the Emilia Romagna region, especially in the Ravenna area, where the Lamone river has flooded. According to the city administration, the water also flooded the field. The warnings apply to some areas of Puglia and Venice and to twelve regions, both in the north and in the south, writes the website Rainews.
