The mother of the Slovak opposition leader is facing new suspicions about her association’s money transfers

The SME newspaper published information that it obtained two different statements from the account of the Projekt Fórum association for the years 2020 to 2022. An official statement from Tatra banka and a statement from internet banking that was given to Šimečková by Puková.

The documents show that some payments were increased or decreased on one of the statements, at other times the recipient was different or the payment was completely missing from one statement.

For example, on April 3, 2020, according to the statement from Puková, the payment for the Stará tržnica was higher by approximately one thousand euros (approx. 25 thousand CZK), as was the payment for Hotel Arcadia. For the payment for the Design Ville e-shop with Scandinavian furniture, the amount differs by approximately two thousand euros (50 thousand CZK).

The withdrawal of cash on June 5, 2020 is also disputed. Puková stated an amount corresponding to approximately CZK 25,000 collected by Šimečkova, but the bank records a withdrawal of about CZK 250,000, directly by Puková. Šimečková also admitted that Puková paid the claims for her, as she did not have a bank account for several years due to the ongoing foreclosure.

Withdrawals for Puková and Šimečková debts

The documents also show that Puková sent a total of approximately 5.8 million CZK from the account of the Forum Project to her personal account between 2020 and 2022, of which approximately 3.8 million CZK was based on invoices and about two million CZK without an invoice.

She received the most money, approximately 3.2 million CZK, in 2021. Part of these funds were apparently used to pay the personal obligations of Marta Šimečková, who did not have her own account due to foreclosures and received fees from the association in cash.

This is illustrated by the payment from August 12, 2021, when EUR 2,038.90, i.e. approximately CZK 51,000, was transferred from the association’s account to Puková’s account, with the note “March execution”. In another case, Puková had 3,500 euros, i.e. about 88,000 CZK, sent to her account with the note “marta tax”, while the bank statement shows 6,500 euro, i.e. roughly 163,000 CZK, and the text “marta tax and loan repayment”.

A small part of the transfers to Puková’s account was apparently related to the loans that the association itself provided, but most of the transactions are difficult to explain from the available documents.
