The mother-in-law is calling! Slovak social networks were flooded with jokes about the new version of the anthem

On the satirical website Zomri.sk, Tomáš sees a similarity between the new version of the anthem and a certain group of Slovak voters.

“She is slow, she has an internal contradiction that leads to chaos, and when she is in a tight spot, she reaches for the cardinal argument – the blunderbuss. Checkmate. That anthem is really not for everyone,” Tomáš alludes to the statement of the author of the new adaptation of the musician Oskar Rózsa, who let it be known that the new anthem is not for everyone.

On the satirical page, there was also an opinion that the new version of the anthem is suitable as a ringtone for the mobile phone – when the mother-in-law calls.

Martina notes that the new version of the anthem is completely unnecessary. “Probably like a sculpture of a beautiful baby. Just another cover maneuver. There was a need to solve completely different and more important problems, which the ministry was absolutely unable to handle,” she wrote in the discussion. Igor expressed it more sharply when he stated that Slovaks abroad are no longer ashamed to say where they are from.

Another joke used a quote from the Czech movie Pelíšky.

To many critics, the new version reminds of the Russian anthem, especially in its introduction. “Mainly so that you can’t hear the balalaika,” Michal concluded this discussion.

The satirical site Zomri also recalled a skit from the series Friends and one of Ross’ musical performances.

Due to the controversies, the anthem raised tense expectations even before its publication.
