The June 7 elections in Kosovo/Elezi: 18 parties confirm their participation, the deadline ends tomorrow

As the deadline for declaring participation in the June 7 elections is coming to an end, the Central Election Commission of Kosovo has announced that so far 18 political parties have confirmed their participation.

The spokesperson of the CEC, Valmir Elezi, told RTK that, until Wednesday at noon (6 May), four parties have announced their non-participation, while a coalition consisting of two political entities has also been registered.

The deadline for notification of participation, non-participation or the creation of coalitions started on May 1 and ends on May 7, applying to the 53 parties currently registered in Kosovo.

According to official data, among the parties that have confirmed their participation are subjects from various communities, including the Democratic League of Kosovo and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, as well as other parties from non-majority communities.

Meanwhile, four parties have decided not to participate in the elections, while so far only one coalition has been registered, “VAKAT Coalition”, formed by two Bosnian parties.

The CEC clarifies that the process of notification of participation is separate from that of the certification of new political entities and the submission of lists of candidates for MPs.

The deadline for the application for certification of new entities started on May 2 and will end on May 10, while the submission of lists of candidates for deputies will continue until May 12.

The electoral authorities emphasize that all procedures are being conducted through electronic platforms, in accordance with the practices of the last elections.
