“The brand of the Tories (conservatives) is completely damaged. We are the real opposition to this disastrous government,” Farage responded to the published survey results.
The politician, who was an MEP from 1999 to 2020 and became the face of the campaign for Britain’s exit from the European Union in 2016, became the leader of Reform UK last year just about two weeks before the election date was announced.
Although the party was not expected to succeed, Reform UK won 14 percent of the vote in last year’s elections, making it the third strongest party in Britain. However, the majority electoral system in single-mandate constituencies was not advantageous for the party – in the 650-member Lower House of Parliament, it has five MPs, including Farage, while a number of parties with nationally lower support won a larger number of MPs.

The anti-immigration and anti-EU Reform UK attracted attention in recent weeks also because it was openly supported by Elon Musk, a billionaire linked to the administration of US President-elect Donald Trump and, among other things, the owner of the X social network.
Farage traveled to Musk and Trump and boasted of the billionaire’s support, but refused to join his call for the release of far-right activist Tommy Robinson (real name Stephen Yaxley-Lennon). Last fall, he was sentenced to 18 months for contempt of court after, despite the ban, he continued to accuse a Syrian refugee of assaulting young girls, although he had already successfully sued him for false accusations.
The next parliamentary elections in Britain are probably not long in coming, they should be held in August 2029 at the latest.
