The company based in San Francisco received new capital from investors in the amount of 65 billion dollars (almost 1.4 trillion crowns). Thanks to this, its value climbed to 965 billion dollars, i.e. more than 20 trillion crowns.
According to Bloomberg calculations, each of the founders holds less than one percent of the company. Even so, the value of their shares should reach approximately eight billion dollars, which corresponds to roughly 166 billion crowns per person.
The newly created billionaires include siblings Dario and Daniela Amodei, as well as Tom Brown, Jack Clark, Jared Kaplan, Sam McCandlish and Christopher Olah.
He warned against the concentration of wealth
An interesting fact is that it was the CEO of Anthropic, Dario Amodei, who in the past drew attention to the risks of excessive concentration of wealth in the artificial intelligence sector. In an essay published in January this year, he wrote that there is a need to be concerned about such a level of wealth accumulation that could disrupt the functioning of society.
According to him, the people behind the development of AI should be prepared to give up part of their property and influence. At the same time, Bloomberg reported that the company’s founders pledged to donate 80% of their wealth to charity.
In addition, Anthropic got ahead of its significant competitor. As Reuters pointed out, the value of the company has already surpassed the valuation of OpenAI, which investors valued at $852 billion in March this year.
Former employees of OpenAI
The story of Anthropic began in 2021, when the company was founded by former employees of OpenAI. A year later, it made the ChatGPT language model available to the public free of charge, which sparked an unprecedented interest in artificial intelligence among the public, the media and investors.
Anthropic’s flagship is the Claude chatbot, launched in 2023. It is the growth of similar tools in recent years that has significantly transformed the technology sector and investors’ interest in companies operating in the field of AI.
