Six days of blockade, PDK demands the return of the process in the Assembly

The deputies of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) have continued their action for the sixth day in a row by blocking the entrance of the Government of Kosovo, as a sign of protest against the non-continuation of the constitutive session of the Assembly. The action of the PDK was joined this Thursday by members of the Alliance, as well as leaders and assembly members of the PDK from the Municipality of Vushtrri. The protesters demanded the return of the process to the Assembly and the constitution of Kosovo’s institutions.

PDK assemblywoman from Vushtrri, Vlera Tahiri, said that the citizens of this municipality need investments and development projects, which, according to her, require functional institutions.

“Vushtrri needs investments, development projects and a government that treats municipalities and citizens with responsibility”Tahiri declared, requesting that the session of the Assembly continue and the institutions be constituted.

PDK deputy, Ganimete Musliu, said that the action will continue until their demands are met. She called on the chairman of the Vetëvendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, to return to the Assembly and enable the establishment of institutions. “Jhere we are today, for the sixth day in a row, and we will not stop until our request is reached or fulfilled“, said Musliu.

According to her, PDK’s request is “the return of the constitutionality, legality and legitimacy of the state”. Even the deputy of the Alliance, Time Kadrijaj, demanded respect for the Constitution and the decision of the Constitutional Court regarding the deadlines for the constitution of the Assembly.

Kadrijaj declared that no one is above the law and accused Kurti of interpreting the Constitution according to his own interests. “No one is above the law. Albin Kurti is not above the law either,” she said. The Alliance MP also warned that if the situation continues, the protests will escalate and become even more massive. This will not work, we will not stop organizing until the full constitution of the Assembly, as well as the election of the government.”said Kadrijaj.

PDK and the Alliance demand that the parliamentary process continue as soon as possible, with the full constitution of the Assembly and then the formation of the new institutions of Kosovo.
