Serbia blocks funds for Presheva, Kosovo denounces the intervention and demands a reaction from the European Union

A recent decision of the Serbian government has left thousands of Albanians living in the Presheva Valley without financial support. The head of the Albanian National Council, Enkel Rexhepi, announced that Belgrade has blocked transfers and donations coming directly from Kosovo. This blockage is not a technical problem, but a direct blow to 3,650 students and hundreds of orphans.

“Hundreds of students, about a thousand farmers and over 130 organizations that are totally dependent on these development programs are being affected”, publicly denounced Rexhepi. According to him, the obstacle is being made through the banking system with a clear political order from the Serbian high authorities.

Prishtina’s reaction was immediate, describing this as a violent intervention in the functioning of Albanian institutions. “This is the second time that our vehicles have been blocked without any reason, showing a repeated pattern of blocking”, declared the Government of Kosovo.

The government cabinet confirmed that it has started the concrete steps to set internationals in motion regarding this situation. Brussels and other relevant factors have been officially notified of this violation that violates the national identity of the Albanians in the Valley.
