Loaded at the US Embassy in Kosovo, Annu Pratipati has considered Kosovo’s decision to abolish tariffs on American goods as indicators of leadership.
During a forum organized by the American Chamber of Commerce on the topic “Removing barriers, the economic impact of 0% tariffs on American goods”, Pratipati stressed that lifting tariffs increases Kosovar access to American goods and creates new opportunities for businesses in both countries.
“Kosovo and the US share a universal agreement on strengthening economic reports, which helps deepen and strengthen trade relations,” she said, thanking the Kosovo Customs and the American Chamber of Commerce for their role in the process. It invited Kosovar businesses to seize this opportunity for further developing trade relations and not only.
On the other hand, Finance Minister Hekuran Murati stated that this decision is one of the most important to strengthen the strategic partnership with the US. “American products are welcome in Kosovo without tariffs from this month onwards. This paves the way for increased economic cooperation and investment, making Kosovo an attractive destination for US and other investors,” Murati said.
The president of the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce, Lulzim Rafuna, added that from August 1, any commodity from the US is subject to 0%customs duty. He noted that this equates tariff treatment for Kosovo’s main partners, including the EU, US and Turkey, adding that from next year, on the 10th anniversary of the Stabilization and Association Agreement, these states will be treated equally.
This decision is expected to promote economic growth and open the doors for new investments, further strengthening strategic links between Kosovo and the US.
