The Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Dimal Basha, reacted on Thursday to media reports and reactions in the country regarding a 2012 work, where he was co -authored.
While the media reported that in the work entitled “Globalization in the Western Balkans: Transnational Crime, Fundamentalist Islam and Unjust Alliances”, it is written that “Funds for the Kosovo Liberation Army came from ordinary Albanians in the diaspora, but also from drug traffickers operating throughout Western Europe and in the United States,” On the issue of the penetration of fundamentalist Islam in Southeast Europe and has not mentioned the KLA in any country.
“In 2012, a time when I was a student, like full of other students we submitted publication research. I have then researched the issue of the penetration of fundamentalist Islam in Southeast Europe, but that has always focused on Kosovo. I have sent the research that only relates to this topic and here is my responsibility regarding the work in question. As you know, my master’s theme, also published in 2013, also covers this part only. In no single sentence there do not find the word KLA or what else,“Basha declared.
The Kosovo Liberation Army described the Assembly as sacred and distanced itself from all those who wrote in the work against this value.
“Never in my life has been written and there will be no content that contradicts this sacred value of our people. This does not comment, that of course I distance myself from all those who have written against this value,The Speaker added.
Meanwhile, PDK leader Memli Krasniqi, with a post on the social network Facebook, said that despite his party forced to vote in favor of Basha to end the stalemate in the Assembly, the latest event proves that Dimal Basha should not be in charge of the Assembly while accusing the leader of Vetevendosje, Albin Kurt. demonization of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
