Kosovo – Nenad Rasiqi fails to be elected Vice President of the Assembly, constituting session is terminated

The constitution of the Assembly of Kosovo was not even held this Thursday (August 28), as the MPs failed to elect the Serbian vice president. MP Nenad Rasic has not received enough votes even in the 59th effort of the constituent session. This is the second time he has not been voted for this post, and has the right to vote once again.

Speaker of Parliament, Dimal Basha, interrupted the session, saying that the administration of the Assembly will announce when he can resume.

The election of the vice president from the Serbian community is the last step to constitutionally constitutionally constitution, but it seems that political parties are not agreeing at this point either.

Dimal Basha was elected to the head of the Kosovo Assembly two days ago, ending a long political stalemate. Albulena Haxhiu, Vlora Citaku and Kujtim Shala from the three largest political parties in the country, the Vetevendosje Movement and the two opposition parties, the Democratic Party of Kosovo and the Democratic League of Kosovo were elected, while Emilija Rexhepi was elected vice president.
