During her visit to the United States of America, the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, expressed her deep gratitude to her compatriots in Staten Island and Albanian associations, including “Ulcinj” and “Dibra”, for the warm reception and hospitality during her stay in the US.
In a post on social networks, President Osmani wrote: “Thanks to our compatriots in Staten Island and the ‘Ulcinj’, ‘Dibra’ associations of all other extraordinary reception associations!”
She emphasized the historical and irreplaceable role of the Albanian Diaspora in America in supporting the cause of Kosovo.
“The history of Kosovo is the story of the sacrifice and joint efforts. In this story, our diaspora in America has written a bright chapter, always side by side with our people, proving that distance never extinguishes love for the homeland,”Osmani added, appreciating the Diaspora’s contribution to strengthening ties with Kosovo and advancing its interests in the international arena.
President Osmani’s visit to the US takes place within the United Nations General Assembly, where it is representing Kosovo in discussions on global issues such as peace, security and sustainable development.
The meeting with the compatriots in Staten Island is part of her agenda to strengthen ties with the Albanian Diaspora, which has played a key role in lobbying for Kosovo’s independence and its political and economic support over the decades.
