Netanyahu described the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip as historic. He said that it was closed thanks to the help of US President Joe Biden and President-elect Donald Trump, who will take office on Monday. According to him, Trump will also ensure that Israel has all the weapons and ammunition it needs. If necessary, Israel will resume fighting in the Gaza Strip.
“If we have to return to the fight, we will do it with new and forceful means,” Netanyahu said, according to the BBC server. “President Trump and President Biden have fully supported Israel’s right to return to fighting if Israel concludes that phase two negotiations are fruitless,” he added.
At the end of his speech, Netanyahu described the successes of the military campaign over the past 15 months, including the killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinvár, and thanked the country for the support it provided throughout the war.

“I have changed the face of the Middle East,” Netanyahu declared. The result, according to him, is that Hamas is now completely alone on this front and that the cease-fire agreement succeeded in forcing this movement to accede to conditions it had refused in the past.
The ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip was concluded on Wednesday in Doha, Qatar. It should enter into force on Sunday at 08:30 local time (07:30 CET). The agreement is supposed to stop the fighting between Israel and the terrorist movement Hamas, ensure the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip and allow the return of hostages that Palestinian armed groups kidnapped from Israel in October 2023.
Hundreds of demonstrators marched in Jerusalem on Saturday to support the ceasefire agreement. “We won’t stop until everyone comes back,” the protesters chanted. At the same time, they carried banners with the faces and names of the hostages who are to be released as part of the second phase of the agreement, the server of The Times of Israel (ToI) pointed out.
